Medical Director - Scott & White Health Plan Temple, TX The Medical Director works actively to implement and administer medical policies, disease and medical care guidance programs, integrate physician services, quality assurance, appeals and grievances, and regulatory compliance programs with medical service and delivery systems to ensure the best possible quality health care for Scott and White Health Plan members. Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy and board certified in an ABMS or AOA recognized specialty with and active Texas Medical License. A minimum of five years medical practice experience after completing residency-training is required with a minimum of three years medical management experience in a managed care environment or equivalent management experience. Scott & White Health Plan (SWHP) began operations in January 1982 as a not for profit Health Maintenance Organization. Its mission, then and today: "To provide the most personalized, comprehensive, highest quality health care, enhanced by medical education and research". The SWHP service area focused primarily in Bell and Coryell counties. Since then, we--ve grown our membership to over 200,000 members and our service area to 50 counties in the Central Texas region. New insurance plans have been introduced to meet the needs of members, employers and the community. These include a statewide self-insured plan and a Medicare prescription plan.
